The Team
Sean Aylmer, Editor-in-chief
Sean Aylmer is a specialist in economics and financial services. He trained as an economist and worked for the Reserve Bank of Australia before shifting to journalism. Sean has worked at The Sydney Morning Herald and The Australian Financial Review, where he has been an economics correspondent based in Canberra and a foreign correspondent based in New York. Sean has held senior management positions including news editor and banking and finance editor at the AFR. Sean has been a finalist twice in the Walkley awards for journalism and in 2000 won the Citibank Award for Excellence in Journalism (General Business).
Kevin Chinnery, Weekly Editor
Kevin spent 24 years editing and managing the Asian and Australian affiliates of Lloyd's List, the global shipping and logistics daily newspaper, based in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Sydney. He covered the growth in Asia's maritime industries in the 1980s and 1990s, with special focus on China's emergence, and wrote extensively on reforms in the Australian transport industries before joining BRW in 2006.
Tom Brentnall, Flagship Editor
Tom is responsible for BRW's special monthly issues. After joining the reporting staff of BRW in 1981, Tom held a variety of editing and production roles and was an early editor guiding the development of the BRW Rich 200. He was a senior staff member of Time magazine's Australian edition, and later was editor of the Qantas Club and Qantas inflight magazines.
Andrew Molloy, BRW.com.au Editor
Andrew is a journalist with more than 20 years experience in newspapers, magazines, radio, television and online. He has covered finance, property industrial relations, and state, federal and local politics. He has won awards for feature writing and television production. He has been a BRW subeditor for almost three years.
Damon Frith, Chief Business Writer
Damon is a former senior business writer for the Australian Financial Review and The Australian. He joins BRW after a five years freelancing from Western Australia. His impeccable contacts and more than 20 years dealing with the business community will deliver insight into corporate takeovers and developments and analysis of new pathways business is pursuing to maintain an edge on the global competition.
David James, Senior Writer
David is the author of the Leading Edge column. He specialises in management and globalisation and focuses on assessing management theory and how it is applied. He was a stockbroker with J.B. Were & Son. and has a PhD from Monash University.
John Stensholt, Rich Lists Editor
John is the editor of BRW's Rich 200 list, as well as the Young Rich. He also works on other important editions such as the BRW Top 100 in his role as deputy flagships editor. John also writes corporate strategy features on listed companies for the magazine.
Leo D'Angelo Fisher, Leadership Editor
Leo specialises in management issues, corporate strategy and industry analysis. He is a former editor of Rydges magazine, deputy editor of Far East Business and deputy editor of Business Queensland. He wrote, Rethink: The Story of Edward de Bono in Australia, and has a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Letters degree.
Foad Fadaghi, Technology Editor
Foad has worked in media, research and consulting for more than a decade. Prior to joining BRW, Foad was a technology industry analyst with Frost & Sullivan, IDC and Jupiter Research. He is a former managing editor of Jupitermedia.
Chris Larsen, Property Editor
Chris has been involved in the commercial property industry for more than a decade, as a journalist and working for organisations including the Property Council of Australia and Jones Lang LaSalle. He was editor of the PCA's magazine, Property Australia, for five years.
Gina McColl, Innovation Editor
A journalist with BRW since 1997, Gina focuses on cultural change and business improvement. She was previously the online editor of BRW.com.au, and has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from the University of Melbourne.
Jane Searle
Jane started as a freelancer for The Australian, and has published with the Straits Times and CNN.com. She has worked at Personal Investor magazine and enjoys writing about banking and finance. Jane has studied at the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and completed a Bachelor of Communications.
Tony Blackie, Lifecycle Editor
Tony started his career in journalism at The Age in Melbourne has worked for The Sun-Herald and The Observer in London; he has been managing editor of Your Computer and Historic Australia magazines. He has qualifications in market research, marketing and management including a masters degree in management.
Agnes King
Agnes is an information technology writer. She has worked for the Australian Financial Review, the IT sections of The Age and the The Sydney Morning Herald, as well as MIS magazine. She started her career in 1999 writing for the computer reseller title Australian Reseller News.
Kate Burgess
Kate covers the accounting, legal, engineering and consulting professions. She is also BRW’s sustainability and climate change reporter. Previously she was a senior writer on Your Mortgage and the finance writer on Commercial Property Gazette. Kate holds a Bachelor of Business (Finance) and an MA Journalism.
Kath Walters
Kath is an award-winning senior journalist covering areas including biotechnology and venture capital. She specialises in analysis of corporate business strategy covering topics such as industry trends, managing rapid growth, raising capital, and using information technology to gain a competitive edge.
Luke Forrestal
Luke covers the mining, and the mining technology and services sector. He is a former editor of Mining Monthly magazine. He graduated from Curtin University in Western Australia with a degree in journalism in 2000.
Jane Lindhe
Jane Lindhe has worked for a financial services trade publication and has written for The Age newspaper in Melbourne. She graduated with a double degree in journalism and public relations. She has an interest in emerging companies and business strategy.
Jeff Hutton
Jeffrey started with the Mainichi Shimbum newspaper in Japan translating and writing for its English language daily. He quickly moved to Bloomberg News where his rounds included the auto and consumer electronics industries at its bureau in Tokyo. Jeffrey joined BRW after covering currency and bond markets for Australian Associated Press.
Paul Jones, Photographer
Paul was a staff photographer for The Sydney Morning Herald. He has been a freelance photojournalist for The Australian, The Sun Herald, The Sunday Times, The Guardian, Agence France-Presse, and the Australian Financial Review.
