Andy Neumann, OBS: “I think it’s probably not a one size fits all for everybody. So the most practical advice that I could give is to take a step back and think about what you want to do with your talent, then design the process around that. It’s not accidental that we’re in the top 10 of the BRW Great Places to Work.”

Kym Illman, Messages on Hold:“Go back to your office and shore up your very best people by wowing them and surprising them. A couple of tips that work for me include hand writing a letter and sending it to the employee’s family. Or I’ll send magazines with post-it notes every seven pages highlighting stories that I think might be of interest. It’s all these little things that they don’t expect.”

Simon Winfield, Hays: “I think the most important thing for me is make sure you’re delivering what you promise. I think you’ve just got to look at what it is you’re saying, what you stand for and what your business stands for and how you’re going to treat those people. Ask why should someone come and work for you, then make sure you deliver on it.”
