Nothing says you’ve arrived like a Ferrari or Lamborghini, as many of Australia’s car-loving Young Rich can attest.

Formula 1 driver, Mark Webber is, not surprisingly, one of the biggest buyers. His cars include an Infiniti M37, BMW M5, Porsche Turbo, Porsche GT2 RS and a Nissan Navara.

Technology entrepreneur, Eugeni Tsvetnenko, has a Bentley Continental GT, Ferrari F430, Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder and LP560 among others.

Coffee-entrepreneur Phillip Di Bella also loves fast cars. He has a Porsche GTS and a Lamborghini Gallardo.

Nathan Tinkler has an extensive collection but it was reduced slightly when his Ferrari California was stolen in 2011.

Members of the Rich 200 (the grown-up Rich list) tend to have a more refined taste in cars when compared to the Young Rich. Both Solomon Lew and Lindsay Fox own Rolls-Royce Phantoms.

The Rich 200 also have a fondness for vintage and classic cars. Lindsay Fox has an extensive classic cars collection valued at over $15 million. One of resources entrepreneur Peter Bond’s favourite cars is the 1953 Jaguar XK120 convertible.

Unfortunately, not all of us are rich but there are other options for those who want to experience life in the fast lane. Here are two suggestions:

  • Book a track day experience. Sydney-based Sportscar World Rentals offers five laps in a Lamborghini Gallardo for $899.
  • Invest in a supercar timeshare. Timeshare Exotic Cars offers partial ownership from $16,000. A one time only fee buys you access to a supercar for a set number of days a year.

BRW’s 2012 Young Rich is due out on September 27. Stay tuned for more news on who’s up, down, in or out among Australia’s junior movers and shakers.
